Swarms of Honeybees

Making a plan...

Now this is a swarm of bees...

Slowly and cautiously...

The bee truck comes in handy...literally!

How do I get 40.000 bees into a container?

Bread, Cheese, Comb Honey and Wine…

Lots of History in the Logo

Welcome to Greenvale Vineyards where we sampled our products

Assembling all the talent for the show...

So it’s 10:00am on Wednesday and I am at Greenvale Vineyards with fresh bread, Asiago Cheese, and our comb honey…

Bread is sliced, comb honey spread on with asiago on top...

Batter up and on deck too!

Maggie, put the coffee away and try this...

By far the most wonderful compliment to our pairings this morning.

Do I see look of contemplation or determination?

I think Maggie likes this aspect of work.

and the bee geek

Thank You Nancy, Maggie and staff at Greenvale Vineyards for bringing Aquidneckhoney products to your customers. We had great fun this morning with you all!

Harvesting Comb Honey

Here we have a healthy Honey bee hive with great numbers of bees in the honey super. I must gently convince the bees to return to the lower sections of the hive so I can remove the super.

Upon closer examination, we can see larvae in this photo and near the bottom a full pollen sac.

Ok, honey super is nearly free from bees and in the kitchen. Here we will portion out the Comb Honey.

As frames are pulled from the super, the pins which retain the wax foundation are removed to help free the comb from the wooden frame.

The wooden frame is cut from the Comb Honey and removed

Here is the tool which cuts out a large portion of Comb Honey to fit nicely into a proper fitting container.

Looks so good...

Packaged and ready for your table.

Thank You for looking!

Come along now girls. We have a new home for you…

Getting all the necessary gear to get the job done

Over the Ibeams and Through The Woods We Go.

A clean little patch of open space for two new hives.

I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of workmanship my friend Luke did on his hives.

Very nice job!

Now, to get them into the new hive…

Looking at the Queen HoneyBee in her own compartment with attendants and all!

Adding the rest of the 10 frames to make the hive cozy.

That a a wrap! Bee Keeping 101. We are looking for more volunteers to help re-build bee frames that cannot bee used any longer. Come on, Bee part of the pollination solution. Join Aquidneckhoney today!

Thanks for looking!
